I need to covert my manuscript (book) into a PDF file. I have XP.

..Do you have MS word. If you have word 2007 their is an option to convert to pdf There is a free online conversion tool.

Also PrimoPDF, which works very well, with the option to select the quality of the pdf that is created and append to an existing pdf file to create a single pdf file from multiple sources.

Another option is CutePDF, which is freeware, but it works OK for simple documents at least.

Presumably you mean Word XP rather than Win XP? You need a third party utility for this. There are many PDF utilities out there. Search Google for them. I have experience and can recommend PDF995 which costs around $10. Works like a charm.
