downloading pdf file error

I am getting the following error message when downloading a pdf document.

C:\users\1234\AppData\local\Microsoft\windows\temporary\internetfiles\low\content.IE5\555kmxzb\greenville%20calendar[.]pdf

Paint cannot read file

This is not a valid bitmap file, or it's format is not currently supported

How do I correct this?

That is nothing to do with Word.

However, in Windows Explorer, right click on a .pdf file and the click on Open with and select Choose Default Program and then select or browse to Adobe Reader and click the box for "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file."

You cannot open a .pdf file with Microsoft Paint. As Doug said you will have to open it with Adobe Reader. The file association for .pdf file types looks to be set with Microsoft paint.  Try to save the download file to your desk top and then perform the steps suggested by Doug to associate .pdf files with the correct program. If you do not have Adobe reader installed on your computer you will have to install it.
