The file that is causing this error is MSO.DLL You get this error message when it detects a pirated copy of Office that is installed on your computer. When you try to run a repair or even uninstallation, the setup wouldn’t touch the MSO.DLL file at all. That is why after repairing / uninstallation, you’ll still get the same error.

You can simply delete the current MSO.DLL located at C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\OFFICE12 for Office 2007.Then do a repair or reinstallation of office 2007. That would restore the older version of MSL.DLL from the installation CD.

    METHOD 1: Run as Administrator

    If it’s 32 bit Operating system  -

    1.      Click on start> My computer> C Drive> Program Files > Microsoft Office> Office 12.

    2.      We will see all the Office applications, right click on word or word.exe and click “Run as Administrator”.

    3.      Try the same for all Office applications and check.

    If it’s 64 bit Operating system  -

    1.      Click on start> My computer> C Drive> Program Files (x86 )> Microsoft Office> Office 12.

    2.      We will see all the Office applications, right click on win word and click “Run as Administrator”.

    3.      Try the same for all Office applications and check.

METHOD 2: Delete the Office data folder and check.

    1.      Click on Windows key + R and in the run Window type “%AllUsersprofile%\Application Data\Microsoft\Office” without quotes and click on OK.
