Can't remove Line on bottom of word doc

Can any one help me remove a line from a word doc. I can't seem to figure out how to remove it so I can print. Don't know how it got on there. I have tried to copy and past to a new doc but the line follows.

    Hi kitbel23,

    Did you check the Border setting? It could be a bottom border rather than a drawn line.

    Place your cursor in the paragraph directly above the line, then check the settings in Border icon (bottom right of the Paragraph group) on theHome tab.

    Thank you so much Sharon, that worked.

    to get rid of these lines in Word 2010. follow below

    1. first click on PAGE LAYOUT TAB
    2. next, click on PAGE BORDERS (located in Page Background section on ribbon)
    3. Finaly, you will notice that Custom is highlighted which is causing this line, simply

    click on NONE then choose OK

    your line to be gone.

    a short line refusing to be selected or deleted was due to an old Footnote marker in the document consisting of a superscript 1 hidden amongst the text.

    Delete the 1 and the line disappears
