When I was running Office 2007, I remember something about a compatibility pack for Office 2003 users so they could read and edit the .docx files I would send them. Is there a new version of this for the Office 2010 files?

The compatibility pack is not for Office 2010, it's for Office 2003 and earlier. FIles created by Office 2007 and 2010 are the same. If you want to be able to open those files on earlier versions of Office, you need the compatibility pack installed on the machines with the earlier versions.

I've installed the compatibility pack but keep getting a message that it's a pre-release compatibility pack only and so can only open pre-release Office 2007 files, and do I want to check for a newer version of the file. When I do, it just gives me the same pack. So what do I do now? (running XP home SP 3)
