How to change default timing setting for Fade animation?

Just upgraded to Powerpoint 2010 on xp.

I use the Animation effect Fade a lot. But I hate that the default Timing on it is Very Fast.

I have to go through three more clicks, for every animation I do (and I could easily have it 50 times in one slide deck), and change it to Fast.

Is there a way to go into Powerpoint and change the default timing for the Fade animation from Very Fast to Fast?

Also the ability to choose the animation from Animation Pane is gone. The Play button is on top and nothing else. I would appreciate your guidance on how to make the animation pane also allow the selection of the animation.

Thank you.

There's no way to chanhe default. It would be possible to write a macro that would change EVERY very fast fade to fast but thats about it!

Don't think there's any way to get the old animation pane back. To change the settings you now have to double click the entry in the pane. Still more clicks but not that bad.

I would like to see this too but I doubt it will happen anytime soon (especially in older versions)

In the meantime  in 2010/13 the animation painter can quickly and easily apply a previous animation to other shapes including timing.

It is unfortunate that such a good package of Power Point features does not have a provision for the user to select default timing for animations.

    John,

    Thanks for letting me now.

Would you have any feedback on how to make the Animation Page in 2010 look like the one in 2007? In 2007 I could easily pick the animation to apply and change the settings of applied animation pretty easily in the Animation Pane itself. Now, in 2010, all I have in the Animation Pane is a Play button.

    Thank you.

    Avinash.
