Processes in Microsoft 365 for setting up Office apps, redeeming product keys, and activating licenses.
I recommend uninstalling Office XP and installing Office 2007/2010. Uninstalling Office XP and installing Office 2007/2010 will not delete any personal settings or files. If you are worried about this, do the uninstall/install under another account that has local administrator rights. When you return to your old OS logon id, the new version of office will detect the Office XP settings and automatically convert what it has to.
If you still have the original ISO you downloaded, then you are good to go on XP. The reason why is that Office 2007 only shipped in 32bit format and installs/works w/out issue on Windows XP thru Windows 7.
If/when you upgraded to Office 2010, the only version that installs on Windows XP is the 32bit version.

I have recently bought (2 licence version) and successfully installed Office 2007 Professional on my new pc, I would now like to upgrade my old pc from Office XP (2002) Professional to Office 2007 Professional and need some advice on the processes involved.
I have already taken both an image backup and a file backup of all my data to another pc.
Do I need to do Office 2007 as a new install ? If so, do I need to de-install Office XP first ? Also, having downloaded the Office 2007 software to my new pc which is running Windows 7, I assume I need to do a different Office 2007 download because my old pc is running Windows XP, could you confirm please.
Finally, I haven't been able to find on the microsoft web page where is the current download for Office 2007 professional - I previously used the trial version download on my new pc prior to buying the licence, that link no longer seems to be available, only the Office 2010 trial - I assume that I can't go straight to Office 2010 because I bought the 2007 licence upgradeable to 2010 (if I hurry up).
Could you please provide some advice and guidance please
Kind Regards
Ali
