Does a limit of simultaneous users in Windows Server impact performance?

Hey everyone

I've been taking my first steps into the world of servers with Windows Server 2022.

While setting some advanced sharing parameters on a few folders I noticed that the "Limit the number of simultaneous users to:" parameter is set to a ridiculous 16777216 (2MiB or basically unlimited). We'll have a max of two users connected in our testing environment and a couple of hundred in our production environment but I was wondering if this value actually impacts performance.

Of course I understand that more users connected to a server will negatively impact its performance but I was wondering if the theoretical limit would.

E.g., if I'd set this to 5000 (instead of 16777216) for 35 folders used by 300 systems, would this impact our server performance at all?

    Hello

Thank you for your question and reaching out. I can understand you are having query related to sharing Limit of Windows folder.

There should be no impact if you keep default limits to performance of the server.
