How to hide default content placeholders on new slides?

PowerPoint: 2007

As default PowerPoint 2007 has a set of quick links in the center of the Body text placeholder for every new slide, e.g. Insert SmartArt graphic.

Is there an option or even registry setting to prevent these from appearing?

I have found the solution ... on the master slide simply delete the existing text box / content placeholder and replace it with a perfectly normal text box.

OK, how do I turn them off on the other 5?

What I am ideally after is a setting or registry key that prevents them from appearing on any slide in any presentation.

"In otherwords I can create a new master slide that does not have them on it?"

    1. Launch PowerPoint. A default Presentation launches.
    2. View / Presentation Views group / Slide Master / there are 12 slides in here 7 of which do not have the Placeholders that you mention so you already have Master Slides that do not have the Placeholders that you mention: PowerPoint already seems to give you what you require.

"If so how do I choose whether I want them or not?" - My previous posting gives the answer to this.

So this is intrisic to the template not to PowerPoint?  In otherwords I can create a new master slide that does not have them on it?  If so how do I choose whether I want them or not?

Ideally, I just want to permanently remove them from every appearing.

Just select a different type of slide (one without the Placeholders that you mention). For example:-

Home tab / Slides group / click on the drop down arrow to the right of New Slide and select (for example) Blank.

This will place a, "blank" slide in the Presentation (one without the Placeholders that you mention).
