Error 1305 when repairing Microsoft Office 2010

After installing Microsoft Office 2010 Professional, I was not able to open any of the programs. It suggested that I repair the installation. In the middle of the repair, it gave me an error reading:

  • Error 1305. Setup cannot read file C:\Program Files (x86)\Common File\Microsoft Shared\OFFICE14\MSO.dll. Check your network connection or, if you are installing from CD-ROM, be sure that the Office Professional Plus 2010 CD-ROM is in the drive. Click Retry to continue or Cancel to stop the installation.

When I try to find the file MSO.dll in the path, I was able to find it. I also checked to see if CD-ROM for scratches and dirt.

I am running Windows 7.

Can you help?

Run the  fix-it and uninstall Office 2010 from the computer.

Copy the contents of the Disc to new folder on the desktop; remove the disc from the computer. Restart the computer in clean boot and then run the setup from the new folder.

Note: Restart the computer in normal mode later.

The file on the hard drive could be corrupted I suppose.  Have you tried reinstalling from CD?
