Trying to animate an object, first with "appear" then with "disappear"

I have an object on a slide.  I want it to appear with a click.  Later, on a click, i want the same object to disappear. I select the object and set its animation to "appear" and that works fine.  But, if i select it again because i want it, on a later click to "disappear", it changes the "appear" -> "Disappear".  So, it thinks i want to update from "appear" to "Disappear", and not to have a second animation for the same object.

Is there a way i can have a second animation on the same object, instead of updating the first, already defined animation on that object?

Please tell me how if you know!  I would guess i need a very detailed sequence of clicks to follow.

Thanks, Tom

    Hi,

To add the 2nd animation, select the shape and choose 'Add Animation' from the animation tab and then select 'Disappear'.

Fantastic help! I've been trying to figure this out for years. It's a simple tool that just gets overlooked. Several times in presentations I would like a piece of text to display for a little bit, then have it disappear. Thanks Shyam!
