Change page size and also rescale document contents

Hello,

I need to change the page type of an existing Microsoft Word document. However, when I change the page size, I need the current content in the document to automatically scale itself to fit the new page size. I am aware of the "shrink to fit" option when printing but it isnt what I'm after as it doesnt rescale the document contents but just allows me to print the document to a page.

For example, when I change my documents page type to say A5 from A4, can I also tick some option like "scale the page contents to new page size" rather than having to manually resize everything (such as fonts/tables) etc? I want to achieve what the "shrink to fit" does, but not in a printing context. Is this possible?

    Hi Sam,

The only 100% reliable way is to save the file in PDF format, then use Adobe Acrobat to print the PDF with the page scaling set to 'fit prinatble area'or'fit to printer margins' (terminlogy varies by Adobe Acrobat version). Although you could use a macro in Word to re-scale everything, fonts, for example, can only be re-scaled in 0.5pt increments, which may not be precise enough to get a perfect fit (going from A5 to A4 requires a 141.4% re-scaling).

    Hi Sam, Macropad and everybody

My problem was to rescale large table after changing paper size.

The easiest way to do it is to do the following:

1- After you change the paper size>

2- Select All the whole table.

3- Click Right click on the table >> select Autofit >> Autofit to Window.

    And thats it.

    Try it

In the Print dialog, under Zoom, choose the appropriate size from the "Scale

    to paper size" option.

The OP mentioned A4 and A5, which seem to me likely to be among those

    offered.

    Hi Suzanne,

AFAIK that only works if the paper size you want to print to is one of the nominal paper size options offered.
