Optimizing a cutting list for least waste

I guess I need to use nested IF statements but not sure how to start.

Trying to make a cutting list for aluminium material lengths to be cut.

e.g.

Stock length: 6500mm

Cut sizes:    2100mm x 25

                  1800mm x 14

                  1200mm x 24

                  2400mm x 12

How many stock lengths do I need and how are they to be cut, best optimal cutting possible with least waste.

Obviously biggest items are to be ccut first and so on, but more than one length per stock length is required.

Excel Add-In works just fine for me.

Here are the results using your data.

Imagine a whole box of lengths of aluminium sections for making windows.

To make those windows I need to cut these lengths into smaller sizes.

I need to do this economically.

How can I use Excel to help me make this a reality.

Firstly you would take a big size out of it and then another size out of the offcut piece.

And then another size out of the offcut left over.

I need to know how many full stock lengths (6500) long it will take to cut all the pieces listed above.

    Is it possible?

You need to take into account the quantity of each size and fit it all in together for the most optimal outcome.

Your example is not relevent for this requirement.

Stock length of Material Measurement Cutting Sizes Quantity of Each How many Stock lengths are required
Quantity of lengths needed to cut all
    6500 mm 2100 10
    2400 15
    1800 22
    1600 8 Cutting Sets
1500 16 How is each stock length cut?

    2800 15
    1750 22

Hit the wrong button.  Sorry for proposing as an answer.  I think that the solver add-in will help you solve this problem.  If I get time I will try to see how to make this problem work in solver.
