    Well, you could certainly press <enter> after each letter and use center alignment to line the characters vertically. If you were making several labels on a letter sized paper (to be cut into binder spine strips later), use center alignment tabs or a table with center aligned cells. Use paragraph formatting (CTRL+P) to set the line spacing (vertical disyance) between letters.

    By vertical do you mean one letter above another

    If so, you've gotten instructions for that.

    Or are you wanting to rotate the text to print "sideways"? If the latter,

    you can rotate the entire page by selecting Landscape orientation. Or you

    can put the text in a text box, table cell, or frame and use the Text

    Direction command to rotate it a quarter turn left or right.
