Borderless Printing in Word 2007

I created an image in photoshop that was 8.5 x 11. I saved it as a .jpeg file to be used in Word 2007. I inserted it in my document and made sure the dimensions were 8.5 x 11. However Word will not let me print it as a borderless page even though my printer will support borderless printing. Every time I try to change the margins for the page to 0 in Word I get a message telling me that this page setting is incompatible with my printer. Is there a way I can get Word to accept the 0 margin and let me print borderless?

It would appear that Word and your printer are not communicating properly. You did check, after changing the margins, to make sure that the borderless option was still enabled in the printer Properties?

    Suzanne,

I tried your suggestion above and chose "ignore". It made no difference to the printing although I was able to change the margins.  Curiously, this option was only available from print preveview and not from the page layout on the ribbon.  Also, in print layout it appears that I have a perfectly centered full-sized photo. But when I click on print preview the dimensions are smaller and not centered. I didn't mention it in my original post but this document was created in "compatiblility mode".  For an experiment I tried opening a new document (not in compatibility mode) and inserted the same .jpeg file. I didn't have any luck there either.

When you change the margins to zero, you should get an error message saying, "One or more margins are set outside the printable area of the page. Choose the Fix button to increase the appropriate margins." There are two buttons, Fix and Ignore. What happens if you use Ignore?

    Suzanne,

You are correct that changes have to be made in printer properties to print borderless. I have made them and still do not get the result I'm after. I have printed borderless with success in Adobe Photoshop Elements so I know it works with  letter size media. It's worth noting here that the HP printer settings always seem to trump the application software settings but that's another story.

The situation I described with Word occurs when I am in page setup and am trying to change the margins to zero to allow for the 8.5 x 11 image for that specific page.

Any other thoughts on this? I could print the image from Photoshop Elements but would prefer to print the entire document (calendar) from one source.

It may be that there are settings you will have to change in the printer Properties in order to print borderless. You can ignore Word's warning and see what happens. But note that some printers offer borderless printing only for sizes smaller than US Letter or with a special paper carrier.
