How can I lock formatting, column size, fonts, etc. so that it will not be changed over time in my workbook?

I have just put together a workbook that should help us get things done more efficiently around the office. The last thing I need in it looking all out of wack due to multiple users and we don't have time to baby the program. How can this be done? I am doing this in 2010 but will be saving it in 2007 because that is what we use at the office.

Thanks,

Doug

Follow the steps below and see if it helps.

    1.       Select the range of cells that you want to edit, right click on the range of cells and then click format cells.

    2.       Protect the sheet by clicking Review > Protect Sheet. This allows you to protect the complete work sheet.

    3.       In the protection tab uncheck 'locked' checkbox.

    Hi Doug,

If you select the cells that users will be allowed to edit, right click on the cells and deselect locked, then protect the worksheet and workbook from the Review menu/Changes group. The user won't be able to change the format, but will be able to edit the cells that were unlocked.

I am unable to get this to work. First there is no "deselect locked" if I right click on the cells.  If I select the areas that I want the user access to edit and then in the  Review menu/Changes group I click protect worksheet, it doesn't matter what variation of items I check, it will not let me edit a cell in the worksheet.  It either locks me out completely if I uncheck "select locked cells", or when checked, allows me to select the cell, but when i try to type it errors saying it is protected...

How about cells that you want all access restricted? Is that in there too?
