Pasting From Excel into Word Keeping Font Formatting Without a Table

Is there anyway to paste the data from the excel spreadsheet, many cells at a time, and keep the format of the font without putting it into a table?

I am working on data in an excel spreadsheet that I need to paste into a word document. I want to keep the formatting of the text inside the cells when I paste it. Some of the text needs to be italicized while the rest needs to standard formatting. When I paste the data normally, it puts it inside of a table in Word. When I paste special without the table, it eliminates the formatting of the text that needs to be italicized. I am working with a large amount of data otherwise I would simply go in after pasting it without formatting and add the Italics.

Thank You

Start by pasting normally, resulting in a table with formatted text.

Select the entire table (click in the table and press Alt+Num 5)

Activate the Layout tab of the ribbon.

Click Convert to Text in the Data group of the ribbon.

Select the options you want, then click OK.
