Signature line with date in a Word document

How do I add an "Approved by" line and "Date" to a Word document? e.g.

Approved by__________________ Date____________

I can type the above text in and use a line shape for the line, but when I type in the name, the "Date" shifts to the right. How can I lock the "Date" position so that it does not move, as the name is typed in?

Make use of table cells (with a bottom border).

You can specify fixed dimensions for the cells so that they won't resize as text is being added.
