The first image in the first link is too small, too low resolution to read. The second image indicates that the product is activated

The second link is better, yes it does not appear to be activated ...

How can I tell If My 2010 Office software is Activated

    1.       Start the application

    2.       Click the File tab / Office Button.

    3.       Click Help.

    ·       If you don't see an Activate Product Key button, your software has been activated.

    ·       If you do see an Activate Product Key button, your software hasn't been activated. You should follow the instructions in the "How do I activate at a later time" section.

If none of the other fixes work, do a phone activation. Do not enter anything until the phone system offers you the option to talk to a live service rep. Explain the problem to them. You are transferring the installation from a “dead” computer, or you are getting an invalid product key and would like to know the exact reason

Unwrapped and downloaded the paid for "full Program" , Office 10, go to file, help, and it says Product Activation Required, "contact your administrator." WHAAT?? --No info no direction, no access menu for entering my product key. Look in file manager, and stupid effing program files claim it's Office 14 or Office 16!! Microsoft support is totally ineffective, keeps referring to Office 365, very, very frustrating.

I have used Word and Access for the last 18 years without trouble. Now what, I upgrade to Windows 10 and now I'm supposed to play phone tag? No solution in sight. Very bad, crappy support. Designers at Microsoft went out of their way to screw us long time customers.

It says Product Activation Required because Office installation has 2 distinct steps. First is simply installing the software, second is proving to MS that you have paid for it by providing the 25 char "Product Key" to the Activation Process.  Apparently the second step hasn't taken place yet, as far as MS is concerned.

The Right now you are in the 30 day grace period. You can use the software, but at the end of a month it will go into limited function mode. Essentially the apps will become a reader only app.  But the 30 day period will take you to just short of December...  Another option is that you could download and install one of the 60 day trials on this machine and wait to install and activate you purchased copy on the new computer.

You have Office Pro Plus. That is not a normal retail edition. Exactly how did you get / buy it? If you didn't get it through one of the special programs, the HUP (Home Use Program) or the Academic Discount the odds are very good that you have a bootleg copy.

All of the legit Pro Plus licenses that I'm aware of are treated as "retail" licenses. That means that you can have them installed on 2 machines at the same time and you can transfer those installations to new computers when you desire.

There are only 2 types of licenses that would be a concern, OEM and PKC. As far as I know, Office Pro is not offered under either of them.

As long as you have XP SP3 installed, and apparently you do since you were allowed to install Office, there is nothing about XP that would not allow you to activate Office.

    OK this link is better:

Why does it say: "Product Activation Required"?  There is no button to activate it so I am wondered what has gone wrong.

I am using a very old Windows XP Machine so this could be the reason but I am just curious whether in 30 days time it will stop working.

In December, I will buy a new computer from DELL so I don't want to do anything just in case I lose the right to install on another machine in December.

    Thank you.
