How do I type a word directly under a solid line?

I can't seem to get a word placed directly under a solid line. It always gets stuck at the left margin and when I try to move the word to the right, it just remains stuck and won't move.

I'm guessing you want something like this:

    _________________________       __________________________

    Name and Title                                     Date

The way I create such a signature block is by setting tab stops where I want the lines to start and end. I then press Tab three times and Shift+Enter to insert a line break to get to the next line, type the name and title, then tab twice and type "Date." To create the lines, I select the first and third tab characters (pressing Ctrl+* to display nonprinting characters will make this easier) and format them as underlined (Ctrl+U).

An easy way to accomplish this is to create a one row one column table, type info in table and then delete the bottom and side borders. To create table click on “Insert” tab and then “Table” button drop down arrow and choose the first block (1x1 table). Table can be resized to fit word by dragging either side border. To create or delete borders select table and click on “Table Tools” -> “Design” and “Borders” drop down arrow.
