How can I draw a line through text as in a wordsearch item

At the right end of the Home tab of the Ribbon you'll find the Insert group. The tools are in the Shape button. (If you can't find it widen the document window to expose more of the Ribbon's features.)

You can also access the drawing tools by clicking the Shapes button in the Media Browser & by going to Insert> Shape in the main menu.

One way:

On the Ribbon, Home Tab, Insert group, Insert a shape dropdown, line item, choose your desired line style.

    The long, laborious methods here are too painful. What's wrong with being able to just put the drawing menu in? I HATE YOU MICROSOFT!

    There is a keyboard shortcut to format text as strike-through.  Select the text and press Command+Shift+X. You can add strike-through and double-strike through formats to any toolbar or menu using View > Toolbars > Customize Menus and Toolbars.

    In the Categories list of the Customize Menus and Toolbars dialog choose Format. From the Commands well drag the desired command to any menu or toolbar, and then click the OK button.
