You may not be able to download Word 2007 standalone trial, but you can download Office 2010 trial for 60 days.

Please note the date on that reply. Trial versions are available only for current products. In August 2011, when that reply was posted, a Word 2007 (or Office 2007) trial would not have been available, but Office 2010 would have been because Office 2013 had not yet been released. Currently, the only trial version available is of Office 2013, and that is only for one month (as part of an Office 365 subscription), after which you would have to subscribe to Office 365 to keep it.
