Power point 2007 not opening pptx files

I have windows 7, and Office 2007 enterprise.  Yet i cannot open any power point 2003/2007 automatically.  They come in as word files.  I tried to change the default program to power point, but I can not find it as a default choice.  Currently I have to open power point, find the file while in power point, and open it that way.

When i click directly on the file I keep getting an error message that states the file is corrupted.

Please help.

Here is the location C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office12

When i clicked ok after following your instructions, i got the following error message.   '"C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office12"' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

I tried entering in addition to the above \powerpnt.exe, but got the following message.  The system cannot find the path specified.

I'm having the same issue...but the problem seems to be that .pptx files are not being recognized by powerpoint, not that it can't locate the program. When I try to change powerpoint to the default program, it won't allow that either....pptx files are labeled as having an "unknown application".

Click the "Browse" button and locate PowerPNT.exe
