MS Office 2010 will not connect to the Internet

While running Microsoft Office 2010, office will not connect to office.com.  In clipart, only one picture comes up and when I try to go to Help, it tells me I am offline regardless of what I do.  I do have an active Internet connection and I was able to access Microsoft's office.com up until a week ago.  What has changed?  How can I make this work again?  Running Windows XP  Pro, SP3, 2.6GhZ Duo Core, 2GB Ram, 300GB HD.  Have a static IP, tried using DHCP, but it made no difference.

First try renaming the ‘Microsoft Help’ folder and then repair.

Follow the steps given below to rename the Microsoft Help Folder:

    1.    Click on Start > All Programs > Accessories > Run > Type %Programdata% and Click OK

    2.    Rename the 'Microsoft Help' folder as 'Microsoft Help. OLD'

Then try to repair Office 2010 and verify the status. To do so go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > Right click on the Office 2007 suite installed > Click on Change > Repair > Continue

Unfortunately I have not found any resolution to this problem.  It seems to be happening on other systems as well.  I thought it was perhaps a problem with systems that had older versions of Office installed on them previously before updating to MS Office 2010 and there was some issue with files left behind.  However, I am having the same issue on a gentlemen's computer which is brand new and has only ever had Office 2010 on it.  It may be an update causing it or a conflicting driver.  Microsoft Diagnostics find nothing and uninstalling/reinstalling does no good.  I am sorry I could not be of any further help.  However, if you do come across a solution, please share it with me!!!

Open Word > File > Options > Trust center > Trust center settings > Privacy option > Check the option ‘connect to Office.com for update content when I’m connected to internet’ and verify the status.

Check for multiple versions or trial version of Office under control Panel > Add/remove programs. If found uninstall then verify the status.

Try opening Word in application safe mode and check if the issue occurs. To open Word in application safe, click start > All Programs > Microsoft Office > Press and hold the Ctrl key and click ‘Microsoft Office Word 2010’.
