How can I ALWAYS show the Print Preview on the File tab?

It used to be that whenever I went to the Print section of the File tab, the Print Preview would display.  Now I have a button that says "Show Print Preview" that I have to select in order for the Print Preview to display?

I was doing things in the Page Setup, but I'd prefer NOT to have to select another button each time I want to see a print preview?  I've looked for an option to change this setting but can't find one.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

Thanks for all your feedback.  I'm not using any custom themes in Windows, but it does appear that this problem has resolved itself!  (I didn't do anything--that I'm aware of--but all of the sudden, my print preview IS now appearing again!  Gremlins at work...

Thanks everyone for your help!  I think we can consider this issue resolved...for now!

The answer is very simple "turn OFF your set-print-area selection" With the "set print area" turned on, the print preview will always ask you to click on the 'show print preview' button on the file page. Turn off SET PRINT AREA and the page displays, as normal.

It took me hours of trial & error to figure this out, so I hope it helps.

Thanks.  I actually already have the Print Preview & Print icon on my Quick Access Toolbar, but I find that the more I use Excel 2010, I tend to ignore the Quick Access bar.  (I'm a relatively new "ribbon" user, as I converted to MS Office 2010 right from Office 2003.)

I'm still curious to know if there's a way to avoid having to press the "extra" button when viewing a file from print menu screen.

    Thanks for the feedback!

CTRL + P should bring up the Print Window.

In case if you are missing the Preview on the right side, change the default printer to a different one and check, if the preview shows up.

What happens if you add the "Print Preview and Print" button to the Quick Access Toolbar? That's the toolbar above the ribbon in the upper left where the Save button is. To add the button to the Quick Access Toolbar:

    1. Click on the downward pointing arrow (black triangle) on the right side of the toolbar.
    2. Click on "Print Preview and Print."

You should now see the  button on the Toolbar. Can you see the Print Preview when you click on it?
