How can I transfer my word 2007 settings from one computer to another?

I'd like to transfer all the font styles, the whole bunch of word option settings, the default look when I open the word doc (like changed margins and background color), toolbar customization. Basically I have loads of customized settings and really don't want to configure everything again; is there some file I can copy and paste over, or some other way to transfer these?

All default styles and margins, some settings, and any "formatted" AutoCorrect entries you created are stored in the Normal.dotm template in your Templates folder (by default, %appdata%\Microsoft\Templates). Copying that file from one computer to the same location on the other computer will bring along all that information.

For plain text AutoCorrect entries, see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926927.

If you saved custom Quick Parts, they may also be in Normal.dotm or may be in %appdata%\Microsoft\Document Building Blocks\Building Blocks.dotx, depending on what you chose in the Create New Building Block dialog at the time. If you aren't sure, just copy that file anyway.

Customizations of the Quick Access Toolbar are stored in C:\Users<your name>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\*.qat (one for each Office program that has a customized toolbar).

The other customizations, such as the Ribbon color scheme, are stored in the registry and can't be copied directly from one computer to another.

You may want to read http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/General/FilesToBackup.htm and the pages it links to, but it hasn't been updated since Word 2003 and some things no longer apply. In particular, there is no Save My Settings wizard for 2007 or 2010 and the older one doesn't work with these versions.

In office 2016 the customisation files are located in C:\Users<your name>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office, and they have the extension *.officeUI (e.g. Excel.officeUI)

Copy these files to the 'new' PC to ensure your tool bar customisations are available.

Those are customizations to the Ribbon. They do not include most settings and customizations in Word. Look at the links provided in responses earlier in this thread.

Take a look also at Word 2007 & Later Key Data File Locations.

Word is a very complex program and stores custom settings for different things in different locations.

Very poor customer service. This thread is still referred to by MVP's in 2013. And we customers have other things to do than check multiple threads and kb articles when we change computers. Especially when Office settings used to be stored extremely easily prior to 2007. Are u sure you are progressing forward in Microsoft?
