a recent update of this app resulted in 8 digit codes being generated with are largely non usable .. How do I revert back to or switch to 6 digit codes ?

The confusion comes in when you add the Authenticator App to your MS account. There is an option to use 3rd party compatible QR codes. If you select that you will get a 6 digit TOTP vice 8 digit TOTP.

it is by far the worst authenticator out there. I mean none of the fixes giving on any of your websites work to fix this issue. I can not get a 6 digit no matter what i do on my iPhone

I am having the same issue with my Sony/PlayStation account. Try to sign in, email, password, and then 2SV. Go to MS Authenticator for code and I only get 8 digits codes. I fixed this once before by removing my work account but I've gone through every step I can find in support and forums. Contacted Sony Support and got nowhere. Does this have a solution?

The resolution that Mustapha Hadrich provides a link for doesn't work. I've tried that resolution 3 times and still get an 8 digit code. Samsung S22 Ultra.

Try just using password instead of PIN.
I believe there are prior versions of MS Authenticator available .. such as the prior version I used .. Can I simply download the prior version and use it instead in order to return to the prior 6 digit codes ?

Followed all the steps and download another new version of MS Authenticator as well but the App is still generating an 8 digit code preventing access to our financial accounts .
an urgent solution is needed to revert to the original 6 digits previously created for universal use
Further tech help is appreciated as we dont have access to our financial accounts

The remedy doesn't work. I disabled the passwordless sign-in in my Microsoft Live account. The Authenticator verifies this in app settings, yet the Authenticator is still displaying passwordless sign-in is enabled. I'm still receiving 8 digit codes. I need the 6 digit code to access my Mega account. I use Microsoft Authenticator on my Samsung S22 Ultra mobile device.
