frontpage 2003 download

Okay, I have Frontpage 2003 and MS Office 2007 installed. I had to do a quick install of Windows XP because of a missing hal.dll error message at power on. (I forget what the install was called, but it stated that data and programs would not be lost.)

After I did this and applied all 200+/- updates to getup to SP3 and current, I found that most all of my applications still worked and my data was still in place.

Then I went to start Outlook and it failed, wantiing to go to install. I found the same errors with all other Office programs. Frontoage 2003 did work.

I reinstalled all MS Office programs, and interesting to me, all data and program settings were found, as in Outlook for example. Magic?

Anyway, after testing Office programs I tried to start Frontpage, which I rely on heavily to maintain my web sites. It now fails with the same error I was getting with Outlook and the others. Apparently the MS Fixit for my Office problem messed with Frontpage registry entries as well.

Okay, so I took out my MS Frontoage 2003 plastic CD container, snapped it open and to my dismay there was no CD inside. I have looked everywhere and cannot find it.

All I think I need is an MS Fixit for this, but can't find one. Is it possible to download a copy of Frontpage somewhere? I have my Product Key neatly encoded on a sticker inside my CD case.

Thanks a lot.

There is no download of FP2003, if you have proof of purchase you may be able to get replacement media from MS

There are still some copies of FrontPage 2003 available on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Dsoftware&field-keywords=frontpage+2003

Another option would be to make the move to Expression Web 4, which is now free: http://msmvps.com/blogs/spiderwebwoman/archive/2013/01/07/1822268.aspx

Be aware, however, that if you are using certain FrontPage web components, you need to plan your migration carefully: http://www.expression-web-tutorials.com/frontpage-to-expression-web.html

I should have mentioned that I followed up with the idea of getting a replacement CD from Microsoft. It appeared that I might actually be able to do so, but was turned off by the anticipated delivery time and having to pay for it.

I did find a free download on the web. I really DO have my own Frontpage 2003 package (with mysteriously missing CD absent from the case). I can't understand why my CD is missing. In any case I installed the downloaded free version, entered my own key (included on a yellow sticker inside my original case), and the install went without a problem.

I was surprised that when I started it up it had all of my settings, knew all of my web sites, etc. I was then convinced that I had a slight glitch in the registry that kept me from using Frontpage and that my "new" install really only fixed my problem. This, of course, was just what I wanted.

Thanks for your replies. Check out the prices on Amazon! Amazing.

    Tom
