I'm having the same problem printing to Brother HL-1850 with Windows 7. Driver is PCL v1.87 (originally created for Vista). I'm wondering if something has changed in Win7 that stops the driver from working. In Vista, I didn't have this problem with the same driver.

I was having the same problem.  When I printed documents inWord even though I had the collate box checked in the pop up printer window.  I would go in the printer's folder in the control panel, and the collate box would be greyed out.  Here is how I fixed it, even though it doesn't saatisfy me.

Open Word, select a multi-page document to print.  Go to File and select print.  This will cause the pop up window to appear.  Click on properties in the upper right corner, and now you have a properties window.  In this window, under "commonly used settings" select business document.  Now select 2 or more copies, and you will see that the collate box comes alive and has a check in it.  Select apply at the bottom of the window and hit the OK button.

This works, but it sucks that it only works with multiple copies printed as a business document.

Hope it works for you.  Sue

I have this problem as well.  Running Word 2010 on WinXP SP3, printing to a printer that does not have an internal hard disk so the printer does not natively support collated output.  In Word 2002 I could print collated output on this printer because the print job was collated in software and sent to the printer a page at a time, but I can't find a way to make that happen in Word 2010.

    Hi Cathy,

Please say more about what specifically is happening.

For example, are all pages printing, just not in a 1,2,3 ... sequence?
