how to change font used in an index in Word 2010?

How do I change the font used in an index to that used in the body of the document, or if I can't do that (I've tried), how do I delete the index (and not the marked entries) so I can try to regenerate the index with the desired font? TIA.

You don't have to recreate the index. Just modify the Index styles to suit your needs. Here's one way: Place the insertion point in an index entry, and press Ctrl+Shift+S to display the Apply Styles pane. Click Modify. Make the desired changes. When you are done, click OK. Repeat the procedure for other paragraphs in the index, if necessary.
