Access 2003 Error:

Anonymous

I'm using Access 2003 and suddenly have the following error on every form I open in every database, even sample databases that worked before:

"The expression On Open you entered as the event property setting produced the following error: Object or class does not support the set of events."

I'm running Wiondows 7 Home premium 64 bit. These databases worked before. Now they don't.

You could try doing the following (close Access before going through these steps):

1.       Navigate to each versions msaccess.exe on the machine and set the option to always “Run this program as  administrator”.  Once this option is set, be sure to leave it set.

a.      To do this for Access 2003 you can navigate to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\MSACCESS.EXE" <or a path similar to this>

b.      Right click on msaccess.exe and choose properties.

c.       Click on the compatibility tab.

d.      On the compatibility tab check the “Run this program as administrator option”.

e.      After doing this, try opening your database again.

f.      If it still fails, leave this compatibility option checked and then run a repair of Office 2003.

g.      If it still fails, then open one of your problematic database, open the VBA window, click on the Tools menu and select References.  Within the references dialog, please list what references are checked.

I have done everything listed (run as administrator, repaired 2003) and am still getting the error.  I have the following references checked.  Am I missing something?

    • Visual Basic For Applications
    • Microsoft Access 11.0 Object Library
    • OLE Automation
    • Microsoft DAO 3.6 Object Library
    • Microsoft ActiveX Data Objects 2.1 Library

I ran the repair on MS Office and it worked. I can open every other databse now without a problem.

    Thanks for your help.

With all the problems though, I loaded my database (a copy) into Visual Studio and tried to run reports from Crystal Reports and I have another weird problem. I'll submit that into another question.

Do you have multiple versions of Access or Office on this machine?
