Microsoft Equation 3.0 / MS Word 2007 Bug

Hey everyone, I really need some help with a very frustrating problem.

I am not sure if anyone else has had this happen to them, I have tried searching for a solution for a while now. I type many documents with Microsoft Word 2007 and use the Microsoft Equation 3.0 very heavily to produce mathematical expressions (Windows XP 64-Bit). After I save the document with all of my equations I close Word 2007. Then I reopen the saved document something strange happens. If I want to add any text after my equations (not in the equation editor just in the document itself) the text begins much lower on the line relative to the preceding equation. To help visualize, if I were to type ffffff after an equation then the red line will appear to show that "ffffff" is a spelling error. The location of the red line will be in the proper location but the text "ffffff" will appear BELOW this line, rather than above the red line. Apprently MS Word changes the font Character Spacing to position to Lower by 12 pt. When in reality the character spacing should be Normal. This bug affects ALL word documents even old documents that were previously save using Word 2007 which should be okay.

If I open a new document and type one equation, save it, exit and reopen the file the same thing will happen again. Does anyone have any advice? It will be MUCH appreciated.

Thank you

B.J

Seems like Microsoft knows that problem but did not do anything to fix it.

Boy this will be great news inform my entire office I think we have over a 1000 employees here. This bug is very bad for engineers writing technical reports. Engineers love equations

I am a very unhappy mechanical engineer right now.

    Hi

I know it is too late to respond to this as you may have already finished your thesis or whatever you were using the equation editor 3 for. I found the same problem when you copy paste an existing equation to a new position. I found a partial remedy for this, I put some blanks where I want to paste the equation before I paste, and then paste the equation in the first blank point. The second blank is in right position and you can go on typing from that point. Yet you will get the green underline due to extra blanks, but it is not a big deal when your work is printed.

Moreover, the problem arises when you copy the equation from its frame. If you double click the equation and select all the contents and then click out of it and then paste into the text, the equation will be replicated correctly without changing the format.

Hope this answer be of some help.
