IMGjpg picture to a document

When I try copying an IMGjpg picture to a document, it opens in the document as a symbol-filled box that says >Select your encoding that makes your document readable<. The same thing occurs when I attach the image to an email. Any solutions? Thanks.

    Have you tried inserting the picture via Insert tab | Picture? You can't open it directly in Word, as you would open (for example) a Word document.
