Automatic conversion to Registered and Copyright symbols

I'm on Windows 7, using Office 2010.  I have an Excel spreadsheet wherein I frequently use the character strings (R) and (C).  These character strings automatically get converted to the Registered symbol (R in a circle) and the Copyright symbol (C in a circle).  I can override this conversion by typing ( R) or ( C), so that there is a space between the opening parenthesis and the letter.  Then, I can position the cursor on the letter and press Backspace to get rid of the inserted space, and the conversion does not happen.  This is a bothersome was to handle this data entry task.  Is there any way I can turn off this automatic conversion?

    Hi,

Because it is set in AutoCorrect. To remove it, go to Fle Tab | Options | Proofing | Click "Auto Correct Options..." button | click the (c) then Delete, same as the (r).

    Hope it helps,

    Hi,

    They are autocorrect options so

    File|Options|Proofing|Auto-Correct options

Enter (R) in the replace box and then click delete. Repeat for (C)

Note this is Global and affects all Office products.

Welcome! Please mark Answered in our response. For the thread will move to Answered queue.

BTW, if you are frequently using (R)/(C), you can set a key to hit to show (R)/(C), like “[“ to (R) and “]” to (C), this also works in Auto Correct option.

    Cheers!

Thank you very much for your response.  Between your response and Jaeson's, I was able to make AutoCorrect work the way I would like it to work.

Thank you very much for your reply.  Interestingly, my list did not show (r), but I deleted (c) and added (c) and (r) to convert to (C) and (R), and all is working as I would like it to.
