I am Using Microsoft Word 2007, I have a 10 page document and wish to place a header to appear on pages 2 and 3 only.  How do I do that so that the header does not appear on the other pages?

    Hi Eckron,

    You can also use Section Breaks to identify the pages that you need the header on.  Here is how to add Section Breaks:

    1. Place your cursor at the end of page 1 and then on the Page Layout tab, in the Page Setup group, click on Breaks and then select Continuousunder Section Breaks.
    2. Place your cursor at the end of page 3 and then repeat the steps to add a Continuous Section Break.

    Ok, we're halfway there, now all you have to do is identify the Header you want to appear in what will be Section 2 (Pages 2 & 3).  Here's how to do that:

    1. Go to page 2 and then double-click the white area where the Header is to display the Header & Footer Tools | Design tab and before you type the necessary header, make sure you deselect the Link to Previous command in the Navigation group for all Sections.
    2. While in the Section 2 Header, enter your necessary Header.

    Now the header you entered appears in Section 2 - pages 2 & 3 only.

    You can wrap an "IF" field around your heading text so the text prints only on page 2, and repeat the field for page 3. Put the two fields, one after the other, in the header:

    { if { page } = 2 “This is heading” “” }{ if { page } = 3 “This is heading” “” }

    Use the shortcut Ctrl+F9 to create each pair of field markers (these are not ordinary brackets like you type from the keyboard).

    Replace the "This is heading" text with whatever you want to appear on those two pages.

    This, and more, is discussed in the article at http://word.mvps.org/faqs/formatting/front_matter_2007.htm.

    Thank you, thank you, thank you. I've been trying to figure this out for a long time and now my eBook will look so much more professional.
