How do I change the width (i.e., line length) of the error bar end caps?

When I scale a chart and make the error bar lines 4 pt weight, the error bar end caps become little bumps rather than a proportionally sized cap that should look like an uppercase "T". The option to choose the end style size is not available with lines (as it is with arrows). How can I regain properly formed end caps?

Thank you.

It doesn't seem that Excel lets you make the caps wider, but you can change them so they are more noticeable.

Click an error bar to select them all then use Command-1 to display the Format Error Bars dialog. In the left side click Line. On the right side choose Weights and Arrows. Choosing a different end style and size can make the error bar cap more noticeable.

    Jim,

Thanks for the reply. I was aware of the error bar formatting dialog and its lack of direct error bar size adjustment, but you are right that the square end style does make the lines a tad longer, so thanks for pointing that out. Seems odd that the size of end arrows has options, but flat lines do not.
