You will find a small free utility on my web site called PrintFolders http://www.gmayor.com/downloads.htm. This will print the contents of folders to a text file in a variety of layouts. You can open the resulting file in Word and add whatever descriptive information you require for each of the filenames, then save the resulting document in DropBox.

What are you trying to do?

If you're looking for a simple way to open, edit, and save documents directly in the Dropbox folder, my best advice is "Don't do it." Instead, copy the document from the Dropbox folder to some other folder on your hard drive, work on it there, and then copy it back.

The reason is this: Whenever you open a document in Word, the program creates a bunch of temporary files, and some of them are required to be in the same folder as the document file. The Dropbox software watches the folder (which is at C:\Users<your name>\Documents\My Dropbox) and automatically updates their server and all other computers attached to your account when there are changes. If you're editing in the Dropbox folder, that's going to create a lot of network traffic that's completely unnecessary (not to mention possibly dangerous to your document if the files get corrupted).

If DropBox is not already amongst your Windows Explorer Favorites - add it there. You can then select it and thus any sub folders it contains from the Word file dialogs.

If you want to add a folder to DropBox, right click in the DropBox folder and select New Folder - it works just like any other folder on your filing system.

I don't use dropbox, can you simply select the file list in dropbox, copy and paste it into Word?
