A family of Microsoft word processing software products for creating web, email, and print documents.
If you're seeing "double" spacing, then the problem is probably not with the (Single) line spacing but with the Spacing Before/After, both of which need to be set to zero.
There are a number of ways to attack this problem, all of which require you to click "Set as Default" somewhere and depend on Word's being able to save the Normal template. If you have already made this setting the default for all new documents and are not seeing this result, then something is preventing Normal from being saved, and that is another problem.
If you haven't already set the default, however, there are several ways to do this. Here are two:
- In the Paragraph dialog, make the desired changes, then click Set as Default and, in the ensuing dialog, choose "All documents based on the Normal.dotm template," then click OK.
The easiest way to access the Paragraph dialog is to right-click in any paragraph and choose Paragraph from the shortcut menu. Other ways: Click the dialog launcher (the tiny arrow in the bottom right corner) in the Paragraph group on the Home tab. Or Click the Line and Paragraph Spacing button in the Paragraph group and choose Line Spacing Options. 2. If you want to make other changes in the defaults, press Alt+Ctrl+Shift to open the Styles pane. Click the Manage Styles button in the bottom left corner. In the Manage Styles dialog, select the Set Defaults tab. Make your choices, select "All documents based on this template," and click OK.
