How to check a check box?

I have done his many times with Word docs, but I'm faced with an Excel at the moment that has a box I'd like to check, but I can't figure out how to check the box. Can you help? Thanks.

    A single click checks a box.

    A double-click checks the box and then unchecks it again.

    The control must be linked to an unlocked cell. If the linked cell is locked, then the form can't change the linked cell's value to change the state of the check box.

    What happens when you try? If nothing (i.e., it acts like a picture), and the workbook was created using WinXL, then it's probably an ActiveX checkbox. ActiveX is Windows only, so it won't work on your Mac. Tell  the creator to use a Forms checkbox instead  (from the "Legacy Tools" if they're using XL07/XL10).

    Thank you both for your helpful replies. I memory serves, when I'd double click on a check box in Word docs I've worked with, a window would open that would allow you to check the box. No such thing happens here. I will plan to check with the creator of the form.

    Did you create the Excel file or was it sent you through email? How is the check box inserted? Does the box look like a picture or was it designed as a Form. Form Field tools (Text, Check Box & Drop-Down) must be used on the Forms Toolbar to create check box.
