Field Code inserts "_x000D_" in Office 2010 (word)

When I am merging a mail merge from an excel document I get "_x000D_" inserted after each line of an address field.  I can't work out how to get rid of this!  The excel document which has the mail merge data in it has the address with carriage returns after each line.  I have tried looking at info on field code switches but can't find anything to resolve this problem.  Any ideas gratefully received!

What would probably be best would be to have the different elements of the address in different columns of the Excel data source so that there are no carriage returns.

Another way of overcoming the issue may be to use the Replace facility to replace "_x000D_" with ^l or ^p

Save the excel document as 97-2003 format and all will be well

I've found that, for whatever reason, simply having the excel file open while doing the mail merge eliminates this issue. And as another poster said, removing line breaks in the cells that are merged will also eliminate the issue.
