The cell will still calculate correctly, I just can't see the formula in the formula bar. Any ideas?

This worked. I soon as I switched the primary screen to the left I was able to see the missing characters. That's a weird issue. I wonder what causes it..

    Thanks Alan_Taylor.

Thanks for the quick response. The sheet unfortunantly isn't protected through. I can see the last could characters in the formula bar, just not the whole thing.

I think the problem is actually on my end dealing with a duel monitor. Just figured that it works on one screen but not the other.

I resolved a similar issue for a coworker on a lenovo laptop by going through various stages of configuring the dual monitors - I checked the resolution, forced it back to defaults for extended desktop, and then used the laptop's Graphics Properties to reposition the two screens.

This was on a Lenovo T410 under XP Professional 2002 sp3, with the monitor to the left of the laptop's built in screen.

    Hi,

Select one of these cells where you can't see the formula and right click.

Is the option to format cells 'greyed out'

if it is then it's probably because the worksheet is protected and the cell is set to 'Hidden'. This doesn't mean you can't see the cell, it means the formula isn't visible in the formula bar.

To see the formulas select home tab|Format|Un-Protect sheet. You may be prompted for a password.

The formula may be hidden. Select the cell(s) in question, go to the Office button, and go to the Home ribbon. There, go to the Number panel and click the down arrow of the nume format text box (which likely says "General"). Click on More Number Formats to display the number format dialog. There, click the Protection tab and ensure that Hidden is NOT checked. If a cell is Hidden, it will not appear in the formula bar but will otherwise work normally.
