Having put up with mobilenoter for some time, I was over the moon when OneNote for android was released as I am a fairly heavy onenote user and was fed up of how slow sync was. All was fine for some time, however I have had one problem regularly for some
time, and now consistently, and a new problem that is recent but happening all the time.
First of all, the one which has been around for some time :-
When opening onenote on the tablet, I am increasingly receiving the message :-
"Source content not found
Notes have been deleted. It will be removed from the phone."
Note weird grammar is not a typo here, but is copied exactly from the messagebox. Hitting 'close' (the only option) typically then prompts onenote to start syncing again, however if you're offline then you can't continue as there appears to be no data
on the tablet. This is currently meaning that the onenote app cannot be relied upon for times when no data is available - whether away from signal or abroad with no data plan. I have seen this on both phone and tablet, although far more commonly on the tablet
recently.
Secondly - in the last few days I have started experiencing the problem of "misplaced sections" - an update made while offline appeared to prompt the issue. Once the error pages were in the misplaced sections area, there is no capability to move them to
where they should be. I had to revert to taking a screenshot of the pages on the tablet, transferring the images to the laptop, adding to onenote, then copying the text out using the desktop onenote OCR capabilities. Then, in order to remove that section,
I had no alternative but to remove all the data from the tablet. This is a fault on two levels, first of all the fault condition should not ideally occur however, when it does, there is no acceptable route to escape the fault condition.
Once this problem was shown to repeat itself, I then removed the onenote app from the tablet, restarted the tablet, reinstalled onenote and then re-sync'd the content. The problem reappeared the next time I tried to edit a page. This problem does not occur
on my android phone which is also running onenote. No problems are observable on either laptop or desktop running onenote 2010 and linking to the same databases in skydrive.
For scale, I have just under 500 notes in skydrive, but have previously upgraded to the paid onenote version.
Tablet - Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, Android 3.2
Phone - HTC Desire S, Android 2.3.5
Screenshots are available upon request, not sure I can upload to this forum.
I'd love to hear any suggestions for further diagnosis, managing this problem, or hopefully to hearing about imminent fixes!
Many thanks
Matt
