can't save file "invalid formula"

Excel 2007 running on windows 7.

I have a spreadsheet with NO Formulas that I've been using a long time but when I tried to save it tonite after adding some data (just text and numerical data, no formulas, there are no formulas in the sheet) I get this msg

"a formula in the worksheet contains one or more invalid references

verify that your formulas contain a valid path, work book, cell name, and reference"

It does NOT identify where this supposed problem formula is. I've tried saving to other paths and file names and no luck. Why am I getting this msg when there are no formulas??? And what do I need to do to save my file? I even tried deleting the content I added tonite but no luck.

Since it doesn't point out where the supposed problem is and since it says there's a formula problem in a sheet with no formulas, this has got to be one of the most absurd error messages I've run into, nearly 30 years of using computers.

Thanks in advance.

10 hours later, I try saving the worksheet, both the version with old name and version with new, and both works. I don't know if the problem saving was something going on in my  pc, like the path (tho I was saving other files to the same folder) or what, but problem has gone away. Thanks!

Thanks, Vinay. Good to know about Ctrl G. I did with all worksheets and it consistently said, "no formula found."

Thanks, Ossie, I should have mentioned in my original msg but I did try that, just copying the worksheet I worked on last night to a new one, and saving that, didn't work. I did not try your 2nd suggestion, closing without saving. Thanks.

I have a spreadsheet with NO Formulas

Only a suggestion but as there are no formulas I am also assuming that there are no links to other workbooks so try opening a new workbook, select just the data on the worksheet and copy it and paste it into a new workbook and try saving that.

It is possible that it is just a glitch in the workbook and the above just might get you past it.

Also you said that you attempted deleting the changes you made with the idea of saving without the changes so have you tried to just close the workbook without saving and open it again.

In case some formula being inadvertently set up somewhere, you may check the following:

    a) Click CTRL+G for the "GO TO" Dialog box, click on Special... and Select the formulas option. The system will select any cell that may have formula on it. Repeat on each sheet.

    b) Go to the NAME MANAGER on the Formulas tab and check if there is any externally referenced name.
