    Microsoft products generally have:

    1.  A 25 character product key

    2.  A 20 character product ID  http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook-help/locate-the-product-id-for-your-office-2007-program-HA010174358.aspx

    3.  A product code GUID  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928516

You can also use the Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagostic to read the GUID in the Office section of the mgadiag utility's report.

    Run the utility here:  http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012

Click Copy on the program dialog, then come back here, open a response, and Paste the report into your response.

Thank you for the reply and the information therein.

    My apologies - it's a 38 character code I am looking for - not 35.  I am using the MS Program Install and Uninstall Troubleshooter and the program I wish to uninstall, MS Office Enterprise 2007, is not listed for selection.  There is an option to enter the Product Code and there is an example shown: {9EEE2575-B66F-43F7-A455-7D419335C87E}

Although I used the uninstall tool and the manual uninstall I cannot reinstall Office 2007.  The installation fails shortly after setup commences with no error dialogue.  This is the report from the utility at linkid=52012

Did you try uninstalling Office by deleting each and every instance of Office application as mentioned in the article 928218, if that is the case then the option would be going back to factory settings and reinstalling Office.

I had performed Method 4 prior to your reply for which my thanks, unfortunately without success.  With a clean boot the installation of Office also fails.  The files referred to in KB 826511 are not found in my computer system.  At this time that is the extent I have followed the procedures in your reply.  I would like to explain how this situation occurred:

The computer had the Office 2010 trial pre-installed which I did not use.  I have a licensed copy of MS Office Enterprise 2007 which I installed and have been using.  Recently I decided to uninstall the trial of Office 2010 and used the Revo Uninstaller utility to do so.  When the uninstall was complete I found the Office 2007 was crippled.  And all my attempts to reinstall it have failed.  I am assuming that in removing Office 2010 essential parts of the Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium SP1 which the Office installer expects to find have been deleted or damaged.

It may well be that the only solution will be to use Recovery back to the factory default and rebuild the whole system.

You may uninstall Office 2007 manually by following the ‘Method 4’ from the article below http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928218

Once you finish the uninstallation you may start the computer in clean boot and complete the installation using the Office 2007 installation source file and the product key

You may start the computer in clean boot and check if a non-Microsoft service is causing the issue. To start Windows in clean boot refer the link below:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: After you have finished troubleshooting in clean boot, ensure to restart the computer in normal mode

If the above steps fail provide us the setup error logs using the article below:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/826511

You may also upload the screen shot by following the steps mentioned in the thread to check and help you better.
