Filtered Tasks, Gantt Chart

Hello,

I am currently organizing 34 active projects into MS project and they are in one master file that was created by linking 34 individual files. There is a dynamic link inbetween the files.

Okay, so my excutive team is only interested in viewing the key milestones associated with the project but are not interested in any other details. I understand that it is easy to use the master task list with each of the projects and just filter out the tasks that are relevant to the exceutive team but that does not show the corresponding Gantt chart with just the filtered task but rather all the tasks.

Is there a way to see a Gantt chart with just the filtereted tasks?

Thanks for your time.

Regards,

S.A.

    Hi S.A.,

Highlight filters leave all tasks visible and just apply a highlight to those tasks that meet the filter criteria -- for example, critical tasks.  On the view tab in the data group are choices for Highlight and Filters.  A filter applied hides all tasks that do not meet the criteria.  So, for example, if you selected Critical - only tasks on the critical path would appear.

As Jan notes, it sounds like you are using Autofilters - you will want to deselect the "All" choice and only select those key tasks that you wish to show.

    I hope this helps.

    Julie

    Hello Everyone,

Thank you all for your help! I was able to determine how to create the appropriate chart using the correct choice of filters.

    Thanks again.

    Hello SA,

If you filter the list of tasks, only the filtered tasks should appear in the Gantt chart.  How are you filtering?  Are you using Highlight filters as Jan suggests?
