Good Morning,

I am trying to conditionallty build a packing list in Word from and Excel Spreadsheet (Both are 07). The premise would be if <<Packing_Slip_Number>> Populated, then start sheet and insert line 1 packing slip number (Total Kits, ITem ID, etc.

Example:

Packing List
Packing List #
«Packing_slip_Number»

Sold To:

ANY COMPANY

123 MIAN ST.

ANYTOWN , US 12345

Ship To:

«COMPANY»

«CONTACT_»

«Address» ****

«City» , «STATE» **** «ZIP»

«PHONE»
Job Number
Track Number
Ship Via
Ship Date
Shipped By
12345

«Freight_Carrier»
8/24/2012
US
Order Quantity
****
Ship Quantity
****
Description
****
Skids
****
Weight
**** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** ****
«TOTAL_KITS»

«TOTAL_KITS»
«Item_ID»-
«KITS_ENG_OR_BIL»
«KIT_TYPE1» KITS

«CTN_1»

«CTN_2»

Then if the next line is the same <<Packing_Slip_Number>> insert a 2nd line, 3rd, 4th, etc. - Example:
Order Quantity
****
Ship Quantity
****
Description
****
Skids
****
Weight
**** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** ****
«TOTAL_KITS»

«TOTAL_KITS»
«Item_ID»-
«XFINITY_OR_ONE_WELCOME»
«KITS_ENG_OR_BIL»
«KIT_TYPE1» KITS

«CTN_1»

«CTN_2»

«TOTAL_KITS»
«TOTAL_KITS» «Item_ID»-
«XFINITY_OR_ONE_WELCOME»
«KITS_ENG_OR_BIL»
«KIT_TYPE1» KITS

«CTN_1»

«CTN_2»

If it's a different <<Packing_Slip_Number>>, Then start a new Packing Slip/page.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

BB

    Hi Doug,

First off, thanks again for the help. I have done simple mail merge fuctions for years, but hadn't tried the next level (many to one).

I actually had found the 2nd link (

http://www.gmayor.com/Zips/Catalogue%20Mailmerge.zip) based on your many to one facility in your initial reply. It was extremely helpful. I will take a look at the first link.

    Again thanks ,

    Barry

The link works OK from here.

Another source of a similar add-in is the following page of fellow MVP Graham Mayor’s website:

    http://www.gmayor.com/ManyToOne.htm

Or, for more complex, but more capable methods, see fellow MVP Macropod's "Word 97-2007 Catalogue/Directory Mailmerge Tutorial" at:

    http://www.gmayor.com/Zips/Catalogue%20Mailmerge.zip

Do read the tutorial before trying to use the mailmerge document included

with it as you must get the mail merge main document set up exactly as required.

Or if you send me an email, I will send a copy of the MergeTools add-in to you.

In looking at the format this may have sent, it may have cut off a few columns (the ones I referred to in question 3. Here are the next few columns.

    Number_of_Skids Weight Freight_Cost Freight_Carrier
    1 1226 $ 384.92 CHR-LTL
    2 CTNS 64 $ 57.01 FED-EX
    2 CTNS 64 $ 57.01 FED-EX

    Good Morning,

Thanks for the reply. On note: I was unable to get to the SkyDrive link listed (I’ve tried several times, as well as had our IT guy try). I did however find another tutorial based on your "Many to One facility" comment , and was able to get some fairly good setup done on my directory document.

I have a few questions however.

    · First off, is there another way to get to the link below (I would definitely like to review it)?

    · Is there a way to set conditional page numbers (i.e. as the packing list is building, and it continues to a 2, 3 etc. page, can I set it up to be page [1 of 1],[ 1 of 2, 2 of 2], [1of 3, 2 of 3, 3, of 3], etc.)?

    · If an item only resides on the last line (i.e. carrier, Number_of_Skids, etc.) how do I get it to show on the merged doc? I am only getting it if it’s a one line item. In the example below Name 1 has 3 items and Name 2 & 3 have only 1:

    CONTACT ADDRESS CITY
STATE ZIP Shipment_Number Packing_Slip_Number Number_of_Skids Weight Carrier
Name 1
1 Sassacus Dr.
Westborough
MA
1581
1
109967
Name 1
1 Sassacus Dr.
Westborough
MA
1581
1
109967
Name 1
1 Sassacus Dr.
Westborough
MA
1581
1
109967
1
1226 CHR-LTL
Name 2
55 Industrial Drive
Ivyland
PA
18974
3
109969 2 CTNS
64 FED-EX
Name 3
1004 Cornerstone Blvd
Downingtown
PA
19335
4
109970 2 CTNS
64 FED-EX

Thanks, and I really do apprecaite your time.

Download the MergeTools – 20120609 Add-in that I created from the following page of my Windows Live SkyDrive:

    https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=5aedcb43615e886b#cid=5AEDCB43615E886B&id=5AEDCB43615E886B%21111

and use (customizing if necessary) the Many to One facility that it contains.
