Header Fonts

How do we make the word 2007 header font black not gray or faded after you type it in?  When I type it in and bold it black, it is black and bold, but when I exit the header, it turns to gray  look.   Is there a way to take care of this?

Thanks.

If you print the document or view it in print preview then it will be bold and black.  The screen view for the header/footer text is dimmed when the focus is not in the header/footer (just as the main text is dimmed when the focus is in the header/fooeter).

Not sure if you are still having a problem, but there is a solution to what I believe is your problem.

You want to others to see the image in the header in all it's colour (or lack of, if just black) glory and not faded, with the text in the body.

Greg states that you can only see this in print preview. You could if you wanted to, save the file as a pdf, and from what I experienced, it will not be faded in the final view.

In my case I am using the headers to hold a background image to fill the page, and they would fade. but when I saved it as a pdf, it shows it in full colour with the text in the body, not faded either.

    Hope this helps.

Thank you, however I want others who simply see the document to see it as black and bold.  Is there a way to do that?

    Thanks

You're probably still not having this problem, I hope not anyway. I recently was however, and all the above mentioned solutions to me were unsatisfactory. I figured out a much easier and better way : create the your desired header in a separate word doc., then copy and paste it in to the document you actually want it in... DONE! This way you also don't have to deal with the stupid header footer formatting interface... bless

Seems to me that you shouldn't have to go through all that trouble just to have your header look normal in the first place. Wish Microsoft would get it together with the Word program.
