Opening a word and excel document side by side

Hi

I'm wondering if it's possible to open a word document and an excel spreadsheet side by side on the same screen.  I'm using Office 2010 on a Windows 7 OS.  I can do this with two word documents viewed together, or two excel files, but can't seem to manage doing the same thing with one of each type of document.

Frustrating when doing research!

Thanks :)

Open the Word document in Word and the Excel workbook in Excel.

    Minimize all other programs.

Right-click an empty part of the Windows taskbar.

Select "Show windows side by side" from the context menu.

If you want to restore the original window positions, select "Undo Show side by side" from the context menu.

This works with all types of application, not just Word and Excel.
