When I use control panel, add remove programs, at the very top of the installed program list is "2007 Microsoft Office System" this is the name provided for my MS office 2007 productivity software that is loaded on this computer ... I need to know what version of office 2007 I have? My other computers show names like 2007 office professional or professional plus, etc ... but this computer only says "2007 Microsoft Office System" .. there is no office 2007 package/suite called "2007 Microsoft Office System" and I need to know what package I have? I opened MS Excel and then Help, then about Excel and the drop down box shows that it is Excel 2007 part of  "2007 Microsoft Office System". Does anybody know .... thanks in advance

2007 Microsoft Office system is the Office OEM (Original equipment manufacturer) suite which is provided by computer manufacturer and preinstalled by them.

Apart from the 2007 Microsoft Office system rest of the editions are available as retail products.

Refer the section ‘Retail products’ in the link below:

Thanks so much for taking the time to respond to my question. Your answer was helpful, however, I did some research and found that the 2007 Microsoft Office System display name is actually office 2007 professional, this is true whether or not you have an OEM version or a retail version. Why Microsoft decided to change the display name on the professional suite is beyond me. It would be nice if Microsoft would provide some direct feedback on this thread as I am sure I'm not the only one who has wasted hours of time trying to figure this out.
