set up cannot find Outlook.en-us/OutlkLR:cab browse to a valid installation source

This probably seems like a boring question but right now I need some help.

In Feb 2012 I purchased Office 2010 from a legitimate online website. They sent me a product code and I downloaded the Office file (600mb).  Installation was fine and updates have been received via Windows Update.

Everything seems to work ok but the Office programs tell me I'm running an expired version and I can't access the help files which I need to work out some excel vb commands.  I've run "repair" and been told "set up cannot find Outlook.en-us/OutlkLR:cab browse to a valid installation source".  In about June I accidentally "hid" all my own user files.  I think I successfully unhid all files but maybe this is causing some ongoing problems.  Pls help ASAP.

Many thanks in advance

"help" in "File' menu of all Office applications says I'm using a trial product and the trial period has expired.

That would suggest to me that there was already a Trial version of Office installed on your computer.

Look in Control Panel>Uninstall a Program and see what Office entries there are there. If more than one, uninstall BOTH, re-boot and re-install your paid-for copy.

You may Uninstall Microsoft Office 2010 Home and Business from the computer using the FIX IT mentioned in the previous post.

You will not lose any information such as Outlook data, e-mail account settings or any other customization.

The Outlook data and the documents created by the Office applications are saved locally on the computer.

    Thanks for your response.

According to the "help" screen it's Office Home & Business 2010.  Version is 14.0.6123.5001 (32 bit).  Can provide product ID if required.  i have my product key.

I get no error message when trying to access Office applications.  They all seem to run fine.

However,  I get three error message:

"help" in "File' menu of all Office applications says I'm using a trial product and the trial period has expired.

accessing "help" in an application - it says "there is a problem in one or more help files.  please repair your office installation and try again"

running repair from my installation files - it brings up the error that is the subject of this question

If I completely uninstall i guess that I loose all my Outlook email account details and other setup features?

Please confirm that uninstalling and reinstalling is the only approach I can take.

    Many thanks,

    Tony

What is the edition of Office 2010 you purchased and installed on the computer?

Is the Microsoft Office 2010 suite a retail copy or a Home User Product?

What is the exact error message you get when trying to access the Office applications?

Since the repair of Office 2010 did not help, we will need to manually uninstall and re-install Office 2010 suite.

Run the FIX IT in the Method 2 from the following article to uninstall Microsoft Office 2010 suite:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301#Method2

If the FIX IT does not work, the follow the Method 4 from the above article to manually uninstall Office 2010 suite.

Also check if there is another version of Office or a trial version of Office suite on the computer. If found, then uninstall the Office suite. Follow the steps:

    1.       Click on Start -> Control Panel.

    2.       Go to Programs -> Programs & Features.

    3.       Search for any version of Office suite and uninstall it from the Programs and Features.

Restart the computer and install Microsoft Office 2010 suite.

Note: Ensure you have the Product Key as well as the Setup file/Disc for Office 2010 suite.
